Myanmar has Exported over 100,000 tonnes of Rice and Broken Rice

Myanmar has exported over 100,000 tons of rice and broken rice in January of 2022. The prices of white rice varieties range US$298 to 450 per metric ton and the broken rice fetched $295-335 per metric ton.

The foreign rice demand is increasing as the prices of rice is in the upward trend in the countries of regular customers and Myanmar rice have stayed in reasonable price.

The variety of rice being exported to foreign countries are rough rice such as Aemahta and Nga Sein and most are broken rice. Therefore, it is reportedly less likely to impact the domestic rice market. It is also reported that over 300,000 tonnes of rice and broken rice have been exported via seaborne trade route and border trade posts.
