Despite Obstacles in Trade, Efforts will be Made to Increase Exports

Regarding the efforts to increase the export volume in Sino-Myanmar border trade despite the large number of restrictions and obstacles due to COVID-19 pandemic, Deputy Minister for Economic and Trade U Nyunt Aung said the following points:

  • The trade functions will be continued after reopening the border trade posts of Kyin San Kyawt, Chin Shwe Haw, Lweje and Kan Pit Tee for Sino-Myanmar border trade.
  • For boosting trade, officials from the border areas from both sides are required to coordinate to address the obstacles in trade functions. Myanmar side shall report other difficult problems and the reported issues will be discussed at the Union-level.
  • Although both countries are actively cooperating in the processes of COVID-19 prevention and control, intensified efforts are still required.

It is reported that relevant departments, district and township-level task forces will actively cooperate in their respective roles regarding the assistance provided from China in the processes of COVID-19 prevention and control. 

  • Reopening Kyin San Kyawt, Chin Shwe Haw, Lweje and Kan Pit Tee border trade posts for Sino-Myanmar trade, further trade functions will be continued.
  • For boosting trade, officials from the border areas from both sides are required to coordinate to address the obstacles in trade functions. Myanmar side shall report other difficult problems and the reported issues will be discussed at the Union-level.
