Vice Senior General Soe Win Addresses at Coordination Meeting of COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee

The COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee held the coordination meeting on COVID-19 centres at Myanmar-China border cities and COVID-19 prevention and control measures at the meeting hall of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Office in Nay Pyi Taw on 17 January. During the meeting, Chairman of the COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win expressed as follows:

  • The prevention and control of COVID-19 affects the Myanmar-China border trade.
  • The People’s Republic of China provides assistance to Myanmar in controlling COVID-19 of Myanmar and has more plans to provide assistance.
  • It is reported that prevention and control of COVID-19 hampers the bilateral trade between Myanmar and China.
  • The relevant ministries have been informed to further cooperate with China in line with the policy, laws, procedures, COVID-19 prevention and emergency response rules and regulations of Myanmar.
  • It is necessary to fully cooperate with China in control of the pandemic in accord with the restrictions. As such, the pandemic would be controllable and preventive, lessening the unacceptable disadvantages.

It is reported that Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers and relevant officials attended the meeting together with Kachin state Chief Minister and the Shan state Minister for Security and Border Affairs through video conferencing.
