Following the declaration of a state of emergency in accord with the Constitution and assuming the responsibilities of the State, the Tatmadaw has been making efforts to bring about regional stability and the rule of law throughout the country. Terrorist groups such as CRPH, NUG and their affiliates, the so-called PDF terrorists, are committing to destabilize the country and to make the people panicked with various forms of terrorism in cities, towns and villages.
According to a report on insurgents who were preparing to carry out terrorist activities by taking refuge in people’s homes in Monglon Ward in Loikaw town of Kayah state in the afternoon of 16 January, the Tatmadaw and security forces systematically intervened to ensure the lives and property of the people not be damaged. However, as terrorists taking cover of civilian houses used heavy/small arms to attack the security forces who were conducting the security operations, clashes took placed from 12:25 pm until 2:30 pm on that day. In addition, according to the report of civilans on terrorists who were gathering in Nanmeikhon to distribute ammunition and recruit more terrorists into Loikaw, and some were on the way to accelerate terrorist acts in Loikaw, the Tatmadaw attacked the terrorists with close air supports and artillery fire in order to prevent their terrorist activities.
It is reported that the Tatmadaw and security forces are working together with the people who do not want acts of violence and stepping up security measures to counter the intentional actions of terrorists to disrupt the State’s peace and stability and inflict civilian casualties.
