Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the presentation ceremony on fisheries, fish and prawn farming and implementation of projects in Myeik district held on 15 January and spoke on the event that:
- As the site for the construction of the fish auction market and industrial zone were chosen and granted in his trip to Myeik in 2021 and were allowed implementation of the projects, the priority to construct the fish auction market must be given first.
- As Taninthayi region is not sufficient in rice, farmlands should not be used for the projects and lands should be used effectively.
- As efforts are being made to ensure food sufficiency in the country, businessmen are urged to strive for increasing the production rate of the paddy in the Myeik district.
- Fishery products must be produced as value-added products at home for export purposes and the government is making an arrangement to generate hydropower for sufficient electrification in Myeik.
- Efforts must be made to generate electricity through solar power; to efficiently utilize the advantages of environment endowed by the nature to have high production of livestock breeding tasks; and to modernize the Myeik port to the international level one.
- As iron ore, coal and limestone are present in Tanintharyi region, local businesspersons need to operate other industries in addition to the fishery.
The Region Chief Minister, the Commander of Coastal Region Command, ministers of the regional government, district and township level departmental officials, fish and prawn farmers in Myeik and officials attended the ceremony.
