Offenders Convicted of Contacting with Terrorist Groups, Attending Military Training, and Committing Terrorist Acts by Military Tribunal

The following offenders who committed the acts of terrorism and were in contact with terrorist groups were convicted under military tribunal as follows:

  • Three offenders including Waiyan Tun (aka) Win Yoe living in Hlaingthaya (east) township, and Bo Bo Min (aka) Khit Saung Hmu and Soe Thu Tun living in North Okkalapa township were sentenced to ‘life imprisonment’ under Sections 50 (A) and 50 (I) of Counter Terrorism Law on 12 January for contacting with terrorist groups; throwing a grenade to a civilian house; taking explosive trainings in the area of EAO; being involved in the assassination of a hundred-house elder; shooting the motor-vehicle polices at near Payarlan traffic point; and participating in the terrorist attacks.
  • Thura Lin (aka) Thura and Zaw Thurakhun (aka) Moe Zaw Than (at large) were sentenced to the ‘death penalty’ under Section 50 (A)/54 of Counter-Terrorism Law on 12 January for shooting a hundred-house elder dead in No. (11) ward of Shwepyitha township of Yangon region.

23 types of crimes to be adjudicated by Military Tribunal in the townships under Martial Law order has been released as an appendix and effective and prompt legal actions reportedly have been taken against those who committed the crimes.

 

  • Offenders who were in contact with terrorist groups, took explosive trainings in the area of EAO and committed acts of terrorism were sentenced to ‘life imprisonment’ under Sections 50 (A) and 50 (I) of Counter Terrorism Law.
  • Two offenders were sentenced to death under Section 50 (A)/54 of Counter-Terrorism Law for shooting a hundred-house elder dead.
