COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

· The vaccination processes continue in respective regions and states as per the priority programme, and a total of 156,106 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 108,039 people as first dose on 21 December.

· A total of 8,799 students aged 12 years and above from Basic Education Middle and High schools in respective regions and states have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 4,763 students as first dose on 21 December. A total of 1,456,770 students have been vaccinated against COVID-19 up to 21 December.

· An oxygen plant which can produce 40 oxygen cylinders (40 liters) per day was opened in a public hospital of Ayeyarwady region on 21 December with the presence of region Chief Minister, the Commander of northwest Regional Command and the officials. Afterwards, the officials provided assistance cash, two oxygen concentrators, five oxygen cylinders (40 liters) and other supplies of COVID-19 prevention to the medical staff serving at the public hospital.

Measures are being taken to facilitate the import of COVID-19 control, containment and treatment medicines and related equipment-

· On 21 December, a total of 20 tonnes of liquid oxygen carried by one bowser and 7 tons of masks were imported by three companies using three vehicles via Muse 105th Mile and Myawady trading zones and Chinshwehaw border trade post.

 The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 259 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 14,423 samples and the infected rates are 1.80 percent on 21 December. Up to 21 December 2021, a total of 528,639 cases were found from testing a total of 5,923,812        samples and death toll reached 19,230.
