Celebration of Tazaungdine Festival successfully held at Maravijaya Buddha Image

          A throng of pilgrims crowded the Maravijaya Buddha Image, the world’s highest sitting marble Buddha Image of its kind, where Tazaungdine Festival was celebrated on 14 and 15 November. During the festival:

  • Concerned authorities made security checks on pilgrims for safe pilgrimage and conducted the pilgrims the areas where candles could be lit, the places where hot air balloons could be launched, the areas where yellow robe for Buddha were being weaved and markets stalls and other observational areas.
  • Pilgrims peacefully paid homage to Maravijaya Buddha Image and they offered lit-candles to Buddha and made Pathana Pali chanting while religious teams recited religious verses together.
  • Second contest for weaving yellow robe was held at Maravijaya Buddha Image and 15 contestant teams representing regions and states competed against each other.
  • During the festival, ethnic traditional dances and the launch of fireworks accompanied by traditional music bands were made. Then, small hot air balloons, nighttime huge hot-air balloons and large hot-air balloons attached with small lanterns were launched for making worship to Buhhda.
  • Pilgrims enjoyed visiting stone plaque chamber pagodas, Musalinda Lake, Nagayon pagodas, Gandakudi hall and Thudhamma public resthouses and Maravijaya Hall is associated with the Aggadipati Beikman. People also took photos at fountain square and small as well as large fountain roundabouts.
  • For entertainment programme, vocalists sang classic and modern songs for the audience. Likewise, together with the leading actor Phoe Chit, the artiste personnel of Ministry of Religious Affair and Culture made performance of choreographed group dances and sang the songs that made people crowded.

           The Tazaungdine Festival was successfully held for three days from 13 to 15 November. Thus, large body of pilgrims across Myanmar flocked to join the celebration eagerly. People enjoyed the beauty and essence of the Tazaaungdine night and pilgrims across Myanmar visited the Maravijaya Buddha Image to pay homage on the day after the full-moon day of Tazaungmone, reports say.
