The opening ceremony of the second Myanmar-Russia joint security naval exercise was held at Thiri Maha Zeya Kyaw Htin Hall of the Naval Training Command on 22 October. It was attended by senior military officers of Myanmar Navy and the Russian Navy, the Russian military attaché to Myanmar and invitees.
The four naval vessels from the Russian Pacific Fleet arriving in Myanmar for the second joint naval exercise and a goodwill visit left Thilawa Port of Myanmar on 23 October. Senior military officers and officials of Myanmar Navy saw them off.
During the visit, they visited famous sites in Yangon, joined in friendly sports competitions, studied naval vessels of two countries, hosted dinner events and conducted harbour phase exercises. The Russian navy ships headed to naval exercise operating areas together with Myanmar naval vessels, it is reported.
