Terrorists of Insurgents Carry out Bomb Attack against Bridge No (606) of Mg Mae Shaung Bridge in Ye-Dawei Railway Segment in Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region

On 25 September, terrorists of insurgents carried out a bomb attack on Bridge No (606) of Mg Mae Shaung  Bridge in Ye-Dawei rail segment between Yaybyu and Dawei stations in Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region. During the explosion, two steel frames, two horizontal frames, two 75-pound railways, and two guard rails, along with special wooden sleepers were damaged. Concerned authorities are making necessary arrangement for repairs of the wreckages.

Since February 2021, terrorist and insurgent groups have committed 79 bomb attacks on railway and in the areas of the railway stations, 172 bomb attacks on rail bridges/railroads, and 16 arson attacks against station buildings and staff houses.

Even though insurgents and terrorists have repeatedly committed acts of violence on state-owned buildings, the Government is making concerted efforts for public travel and freight transport convenient and fast. In this regard, it has been making projects for better railway infrastructures and the upgrade of rail transport system, it is reported.
