Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Council Joint-Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers U Myo Thant and Dr. Nyunt Pe, chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, and officials, inspected the progress of rehabilitation measures in the damaged parts due to persistent rainfall in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on 28 September.
During the tour, the Senior General and party inspected the following areas:
- They inspected the progress of installing a double-deck bailey bridge on the damaged approach road to Paunglaung Bridge (Awayya) on the bank of Pyinmana, which was eroded by the flood.
- The Senior General and party looked into repairing the broken bund of the right canal from Paunglaung (Awayya Dam), and other areas affected in recent flash flood.
- They also inspected the clearing of silt and debris at the Basic Education Sub-High School in Hsinthay Village after the waters receded, and the Senior General presented cash rewards to members of the Myanmar Police Force and the Fire Brigade participating in the rehabilitation measures.
- The Senior General and party inspected situation after the floods along the road from Hsinthay Village to Nyaungbintha Village.
- On arrival at the Kyaukchet Village Basic Education High School in Zeyathiri Township, the Senior General viewed round cleaning up the school after flooding, learning of students and provision of stationery and school textbooks by the Ministry of Education.
- He also inspected maintenance of the damaged piers of Thaikchaung Bridge (crossing Hsinthay Creek) on the Pobbathiri circular road linking Zeyathiri and Pobbathiri Townships.
- The Senior General inspected repairing the five fallen electric towers of No. 301 to No. 305 along the 230 kV Thazi-Shwemyo national grid near Kintha junction and four towers of No. 12 to No. 15 along the 230 kV Shwemyo-Nay Pyi Taw-2 national grid.
- The Senior General visited flooded Basic Education Primary School in Ahsonzeegon Village, where he viewed the learning of students and presented foodstuffs to teachers and students.
Next, the Senior General instructed the officials regarding their reports as follows:
- Repairing works must focus on long-term existence and re-digging drainage lines must also focus to ensure water flow properly.
- Dredging drains must not be done at only area but different levels of water flow throughout the areas.
- It is necessary to upgrade the Muntegwin-Kyitaung-Khawma-Nyaungbintha route through a systematic survey.
- It needs to consider systematic repairing of the damaged bridge for long-term existence with resilience to natural disasters and strong water flow at the time of flooding.
- It is necessary to systematically remove damaged towers in a natural disaster and erect new ones systematically, give priority to durability and workplace safety.
Later, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and his entourage proceeded to Nawin Creek Bridge (Ahson) and inspected the completion of building a temporary Bailey bridge on the eroded approach road and repairing the approach structure of the bridge, instructing the officials in regard to their reports.
