The ROSATOM State Atomiс Energy Corporation of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Myanmar organized the opening ceremony of the Science Festival 2024 at Yangon Technological University and Nuclear Technology Information Centre on 15 August. It was attended by Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Iskander Azizov, officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology and invitees. During the event, Union Minister made an opening remark while Russian Ambassador delivered words of honour. They then viewed round the booths displayed at the festival.
The festival was held at Yangon Technological University and Nuclear Technology Information Centre from 15 to 17 August as follows:
- On the first day of the event, the judges comprising of professors from Moscow Engineering Physics Institute asked questions to the team members of the Hackatom competition and conducted assessments of them. After that, officials awarded prizes to the first, second and third winner teams.
- On the second day, eight competition teams comprising of students from Technological and Computer Universities presented relevant subjects with performances in the competitions, in which University of Information Technology team achieved first prize, Yangon Technological University team achieved second prize and Technological University (Thanlyin) got third prize.
- In the morning of the third day, the roundtable discussion led by two women scientists took place under the theme “Tough Question: Become a Female Scientist”. In the afternoon, quiz competitions for science and nuclear technology were organized. Later, deputy minister presented awards to the students who are granted the scholarships provided by the Rosatom for master’s degrees at the universities of the Russian Federation for the 2024-25 Academic Year
The Science Festival 2024 will provide much more benefit such as improving knowledge and experiences on science including nuclear science for undergraduate/postgraduate students and students, elevating the strength of youths in education sector, assisting of knowledge distribution on nuclear energy through media for the development of country’s science and nuclear energy sector.
