Civil Society Organizations Make Statements to Express Protest and Condemnation against MNDAA Insurgent Group's Terrorist Attacks

MNDAA terrorists of insurgents waged battles in Lashio of Shan State (North) and launched electrically-initiated rocket attacks and drone attacks as well as shelled non-military targets of military hospitals, killing and injuring local residents, departmental personnel and families of security personnel. Terrorists then made forced arrest of patients. Again, MNDAA terrorists of insurgents launched electrically-initiated rocket attacks and drone attacks as well as shelled non-military targets of urban wards in Lashio, causing casualties and forcing other locals to displace from their homes temporarily.

  • On 7 August, Young Men’s Buddhist Association-YMBA (Shan State) and Kokang Ethnic Literary and Cultural Association (Yangon) issued a statement that they do not accept and condemn: the MNDAA’s terrorist attacks against the hospital where non-combatants of local residents and families of security forces; the shell, rocket as well as drone attacks against the wards; and the use of religious edifices for military purpose.
  • On 8 August, Myanmar Health Assistant Association issued a statement that the people must undergo healthcare in any condition. They oppose and protest the hospital providing the public. The terrorists need to refrain from causing the fatalities of patients and health staff for safety.
  • On 9 August, Kokang Ethnic Families Living in Mandalay issued a statement that such inhumane and heinous terrorist acts that constitute war crime were unacceptable and condemnation against MNDAA Terrorist group's attacks.

As such inhumane and heinous terrorist acts that constitute war crime were unacceptable, 25 civil society organizations made statement to express protest and condemnation against MNDAA Terrorist group's attacks on 4 August. Again, Additional 11 civil society organizations on 5 August, and another four civil society organizations on 6 August, two other civil society organizations: Young Men’s Buddhist Association-YMBA (Shan State) and Kokang Ethnic Literary and Cultural Association (Yangon) on 7 August and Myanmar Health Assistant Association on 8 August and Kokang Ethnic Families Living in Mandalay on 9 August respectively issued statements to express their protests and condemnation against the said-terrorist attacks, reports say.
