The State Administration Council (SAC) Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, accompanied by the Council Members, Union Ministers, Chief Minister of Sagaing Region and officials, attended the Naga Traditional New Year Festival for 2024 which was held in Leshi of Naga Self-Administered Zone on 15 January.
During the event, the SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo cut the ribbon to unveil the Arch-Entrance of Naga Traditional New Year Festival for 2024, delivering words of greeting for the peace and development of Naga region, providing aids of regional development, and viewing round the traditional and departmental exhibitions.
After that, the SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications and officials made the following activities:
- The provided foodstuff and cash assistance to the medical staff in Leshi People’s Hospital, and interacted with local patients receiving medical treatments at the hospital, cordially greeted them and provided nutritious food to them.
- On arrival at a Vocational Training School for Women and a Training School for Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas in Leshi Township, they inspected dormitory, mass hall and library of the students.
- They provided cash assistance, aids and foodstuff for the personnel and students from Khamti district and Homlin Township in Naga Self-Administered Zone, and fulfilled the requirements presented by the officials.
- They also attended the Naga traditional bonfire for 2024, enjoying traditional dances. Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister presented flower baskets and cash awards to the performers.
Later, the SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo and officials enjoyed sports competitions such as volleyball, Sepak Takraw, tug-of-war (male/female), traditional wood chopping, greasy-pole climbing, and traditional wrestling, held as part of Naga Traditional New Year Festival on 14 January, and awarded individual medals and cash prizes to the winners.
