A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung attended the cooperation conference focusing on import and export food safety for countries included in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) held in Nanning, Guangxi Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, on 15 September.
At the conference, the Union Minister spoke on the topic of “Promoting Agricultural Commodities Trade through Harmonization and Tightening of Food Safety Standards among BRI Countries” he encouraged BRI countries to cooperate in concerted efforts to use new technologies in trade, simplify the standards and make them consistent, and address procedural and other administrative barriers.
Before the morning session of the conference, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI) and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) negotiated cooperation activities for the promotion of trade in agricultural products.
