Delegation led by UEC Chairman U Thein Soe Arrives at Myanmar from Russian Federation

At the invitation of the Chairman of the Russian Central Election Commission, a delegation led by the Chairman of the Union Election Commission (UEC) U Thein Soe who went to the Russian  Federation from 6 to 12 September, arrived at Yangon from the Russian Federation on 12 September. During their trips, they made the following activities:

• On 7 September, the UEC delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in election activities with the Russian Central Election Commission at its office in Moscow.
• On 8 September, the delegation visited to the Central Election Commission’s information centre of the Russian Federation, and observed the functions and ways of election processes.
• On 9 and 10 September, they made a study tour to Moscow and its surrounding regions to observe local election processes.

The discussions during the visit encompassed various topics, including the holding of transparent election processes by taking the technical assistance from Russia, Russia’s election methods, and conditions for conducting elections conducted by the UEC of Myanmar.
