At the official invitation of the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China, Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Aung Kyaw Tun attended the 3rd Mekong-Lancang Water Resources Cooperation Forum and the 18th World Water Congress which were held in Beijing, China.
- At the opening ceremony of the Mekong-Lancang Water Resources Cooperation Forum on 10 September, deputy minister delivered a speech and Myanmar delegates participated in the discussions of the two thematic sessions.
- During the separate meeting between Deputy Minister and Mr. Tian Xuebin, Vice- Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, they exchanged views on exchange of high-level visits under water resources cooperation, ways and means to enhance Mekong-Lancang water resources cooperation and closer cooperation in the area of water resources.
- At the 18th World Water Congress on 11 September, the Myanmar delegation led by the deputy minister exchanged views on water resources cooperation with dignitaries and resource persons from the participating countries and organizations.
- In the afternoon, the Myanmar delegation visited the Miyun reservoir as well as the Demonstration Project in Heishansi Village, Miyun District in Beijing together with other delegates.
In the evening, the Myanmar delegation led by the deputy minister attended a welcome reception of the 18th World Water Congress together with congress participants.
