Union Minister U Than Swe Holds Separate Talks with Responsible Officials of India, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe held separate talks with Dr. S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of the Republic of India, and Dr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand on 16 July, and met Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and Mr. Ali Sabry, Foreign Minister of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on 17 July, respectively.

• During the meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister, both sides cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas including border area development and security, connectivity as well as closer collaboration in the regional and international fora including the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation and the BIMSTEC.
• During the meeting with Thailand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, they candidly discussed on matters related the strengthening of existing and friendly relations between two countries, promotion of mutual cooperation especially trade and investment sectors, and closer cooperation in ASEAN and UN contexts.
• During the meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Affairs Minister, both sides friendly exchanged views on further consolidation of bilateral relations between the two countries, expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, successful implementation of repatriation of verified displaced persons from Rakhine State as well as regional and international matters of mutual interest.
• During the meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, they cordially exchanged views on matters related to the enhancement of trade and investment particularly in the areas of education, information technology, finance, and closer collaboration in regional and multilateral contexts.

Union Minister U Than Swe attended the 12^th Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (12^th MGC FMM) which was held in Bangkok of Thailand on 16 July, and also participated in the BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers’ Retreat on 17 July.
