The Ministry of Electric Power has been making an all-out effort for the restoration of damaged power lines and substations in Northern Rakhine State due to Cyclone Mocha. Thus, the power distribution in urban neighbourhoods and some villages in Sittwe, Ponnagyun, Minbya, Myebon, Rathedaung, and Pauktaw Townships was completed on 7, 18, and 23 June and 5 July.
As the Ministry had made efforts to supply electric power to the rest of the towns and villages, the power has been restored from the power system for 5,273 users in seven wards and 24 villages in Buthidaung Township with 75 transformers in Buthidaung, and for 6,474 users in 12 wards and 24 villages with 81 transformers in Maungtaw on 13 July.
The national grid has now been able to redistribute power to all townships in Rakhine State since power has been restored to 10 townships in Rakhine State (North) where power lines, substations, and related equipment were damaged due to Cyclone Mocha, it is reported.
