Unofficial and subversive media outlets have been creating and spreading rumours and fabricated news all round to create instability and unrest across the country, sow discord between the Tatmadaw and the people, and using various ways to misunderstand the Tatmadaw in the international arena.  

• “Than Lwin Time”, an unofficial media outlet, posted a rumour on a social media platform that a military column which was accused of taking valuables from the houses in Nyaung Zin village of Thayet Chaung was launched a mine attack is just disinformation. In reality, the Tatmadaw military column did not arrive at the said-village, and no mine attacks were reported.
• “Khit Thit”, an unofficial media outlet, made an allegation that a pregnant woman got killed in Kyone Hmain village of Thaton Township as the Tatmadaw shelled the village is just a vague rumour. In reality, the Tatmadaw never shell the villages where the civilians live but terrorists shell the villages.

          Unofficial and subversive media are wilfully spreading such disinformation and fake news on social media platforms in order to give a misleading impression between the local people and the Tatmadaw, and create disruption to counter-terrorism operations being conducted by the Tatmadaw together with the people, and disturb the State’s peace and stability, it is reported.
