Myitnge-Ywarthagyi Freight Train Derails on Mandalay-Yangon Railroad due to the Acts of Unscrupulous People

No. (925) down-train of Myitnge-Ywarthagyi trip derailed at mile-post No. (372/3-371/24) between Palate station and Singaing station on 23 July, detaching five fully-loaded coaches from 18th to 22nd. The derailment occurred for the segments of railway tracks were disconnected.

The root-cause of the derailment was found out to be the act of unscrupulous people who removed 32 bolts/nuts and eight railroad clamps of the railway track on its both sides. The damaged segment of railway track was repaired promptly and the railway became functional in the morning of 24 July.

Such dangerous acts might inflict heavy civilian casualties as well as damages to the goods-transport. Therefore, the people are urged to inform authorities concerned if they find similar acts of unscrupulous persons.
