The lists of losses and damages in regions and states in the aftermath of the extremely severe cyclone Mocha that made its landfall in Myanmar on 14 May have been released in timely manner:
- 48 locals from wards and villages in Rakhine state were dead by the cyclone as of the statistics on 17 May.
- 6 locals from Sittwe, Rathaedaung, Ponnakyun and Myaypon townships and 91 people from IDP camps, totaling 97 were dead more according to the statistics as of 18 May.
- Three locals from Rathaedaung and Buthidaung townships were dead more according to the statistics as of 21 May.
- On 23 May, 4,209 buffaloes, 7,666 cows, 2,295 pigs, 738 goats and 517,005 chickens were killed in the event of Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine state and its affected areas: Bago, Magway and Ayeyawady regions.
- On 23 May, a total of 62,836 acres of cultivated crops were destroyed in Cyclone Mocha-hit Rakhine state as well as in Magway region, Mandalay region, Sagaing region, and Ayeyawady region, which were partially affected by the storm.
The rescue teams that have been formed in advance in the respective regions and states are undertaking rescue works and rehabilitation measures at the storm-hit areas together with philanthropic organizations and social organizations, it is reported.
