Military Aid Convoys Leave for Super Cyclone “MOCHA”-prone Areas

Organizing the Disaster Managament Teams in regions and states, they have conducted precautionary measures for cyclonic storm in advance. Now, the rescue and rehabilitation equipment, medicines and medical supplies, and food supplies have been sent to the areas in Ayeyarwady Delta Region and along Rakhine Coast. Likewise, starting on 9 May, military aircraft delivered foodstuffs, medical supplies and rescue equipment to Sittwe, Kyaukpyu, and Ann towns.

Based on the latest predictions, it has been forecast that Super Cyclone “MOCHA” has been moving toward Myanmar coasts and the cyclone will pass near Sittway on 14 May. Therefore, on 12 May, the military convoy of 112 vehicles carrying relief and supplies that could not be transported by aircraft, was organized into 10 groups and left Yangon for Gwa, Ann and Kyauktaw, and some of them moved to Pathein, Pyay and Magway as reserve forces for evacuation measures.

The military aid convoys organized the rescue supplies such as small boats, fibre boats, chainsaws and other accessories, life jackets, lifebuoys, rainproof tents and tarpaulins, emergency medicine boxes, antidotes, Tetanus vaccines, water purification tablets, vaccines for prevantion of diarrhea, emergency communicaiton devices and related materials, spare parts for vehicles and  water purification vehicles, it is reported.
