COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states:

· The vaccination processes continue in respective regions and states as per the priority programme, and a total of 80,010 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 41,622 people as first dose on 31 December.

· A total of 2,202 students aged 12 years and above from Basic Education Middle and High schools in respective regions and states have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 3,303 students as first dose on 31 December. A total of 1,495,462 students have been vaccinated against COVID-19 till 31 December.

· Chief Minister of Tanintharyi Region Government and officials awarded cash and certificate of honour to health workers, departmental personnel and social societies, who have taken part in the COVID-19 vaccination processes in Myeik district of Tanintharyi region on 31 December.

· In controlling the infection of COVID-19 pandemic, the effective period of the Temporary Measures to Prevent Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel Issue 2, which was released by the former Ministry of Health and Sports, was further extended until 31 January 2022 with the approval of the Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19.

· As it is necessary to continuously control infection of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), public requests, orders, notifications and directives (except for easing the restrictions) released by the Union-level organizations and Union ministries have been further extended until 31 January 2022 for the prevention, control and treatment of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, and 198 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 10,714 samples and the infected rates are 1.76 percent on 31 December. Until 31 December 2021, a total of 530,834 cases were found from testing a total of 6,040,650 samples and death toll reached 19,268.
