Terrorists Attacked Basic Education Schools Using Grenades and IEDs

Terrorists, with the intents to inflict casualties on the local population and the administrative officials responsible for the rule of law, are conducting terrorist bombings. Moreover, they are also blowing up mines and throwing grenades to the schools where innocent students are peacefully learning for their future. In this regard, the following incidents have occurred:

· A basic post-primary education school in Paukka village, Sagaing town of Sagaing region got grenade attacks around 10:35 am on 29 December. During the incident, three males riding a motorbike threw two grenades into the school and drove off. One of the grenades exploded in the school campus while the another one did not. Security forces had to deactivate and seize the unexploded grenade. No injury and damage were reported.

· On the same day around 12:30 pm, an IED exploded in the No. (6) Basic Education High School located in Aung Zeya ward of Kale township of Sagaing region. The explosion occurred one foot away from the concrete wall of the school inside the campus. When security force arrived there, another unexploded IED was found two feet away from the concrete wall and deactivated.

Under the guidance of the NUG, the so-called PDF terrorists and extremists of NLD party supporters are committing the reckless terrorist attacks targeting against the innocent students and teachers in order to disrupt the peaceful learning of the children. The entire population is willing the international communities to denounce the terrorists who are intentionally attacking the education infrastructures and school children.

Security forces are doing necessary investigations to ensure the perpetrators of terrorist acts are taken punitive actions in line with the laws.
