Political Extremists Displeasing Opening of Basic Education Schools Make Threats of Violence and Bomb Attacks Targeting Schools

With nefarious intentions to create an uneducated society following the loss of children’s rights to education as well as to makestudents, teachers and parents very frightened, terroristswho have extreme political dogma are making threats of violence by sending threatening letters to schools and hanging up the texts of threat at school buildings as follows:

• On 23 June, terrorists pasted threatening notes at the Basic Education High School Branches located in Htone Bo village of Sagaing region and Thaton township of Mon State, and the Basic Education Middle School in Taungthar township of Mandalay region.
• Terrorists sent messages to the mobile phone of the headmistress of the Basic Education High School in Ottarathiri township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory threatening that “You are requested not to go   to school. If you move forward your actions regardless of our warning, we would not guarantee your life and the lives of your family members too.”
• As two terrorists threw a homemade bomb at the Basic Education High School in Madaya township of Mandalay region and ran away, the bomb blasted the back side of the KG and Grade-1 classrooms.
• On 24 June, as two terrorists threw a homemade bomb at the Training School for Junior Assistant Teacher in Monywa city of Sagaing region and ran away, the bomb blasted on the Thar Si street at the frontage of the school entrance.
• As two terrorists threw a homemade bomb at No (1) Basic Education High School in Seikmu village of Hpakant township of Kachin state and ran away, the windows installed at the library, the windows of the classrooms at the lower floor of the two-storey school building, the ceiling and roof of the school building.
• PDF terrorists placed a threatening letter in which they warn teachers not to pursue teaching to children in a Basic Education Primary School in Htantabin township of Yangon region.

It is reported that security force members are pursuing necessary investigations to identify and arrest the terrorists with extreme political dogma who made threats of violence and bomb attacks aiming to make students, teachers and parents frightened and not to open schools for teaching.

• Terrorists with a grudge against opening of Basic Education Schools are making threats of violence by sending threatening letters to schools and bomb attacks on educational buildings, one after another.
