The opening ceremony of the upgraded Thanlyin glass factory in Thanlyin township of Yangon region was held on 24 December. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and pressed the button to inaugurate the signboard of Thanlyin Glass Factory. Then, the Senior General ignited and opened the furnace as well as inspected the factory compound together with the attendees to the event.
The Senior General said that using glass bottles can reduce the impacts on the natural environment. The adequate production of glass products can also reduce imports and the spending of foreign currencies. It also creates job opportunities in local and so it should make efforts to get success.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister attended the ceremony together with SAC members and the officials, Union Ministers, the Yangon region Chief Minister, the Yangon City Mayor, the officials of MEC and the invitees.
The MEC-owned Thanlyin Glass Factory was built in 1967 and improvements had been made. To reduce the imports of glass bottles from abroad, the factory was upgraded under the guidance of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in 2018. The currently upgraded Thanlyin glass factory can produce 300 tons of glass a day. As an average of over 400,000 glass bottles can be produced, there will be an enough supply of glass bottles in the country.
